A friend and I decided to go get some “pampering” after work. So we made a couple of reservations for manicures and pedicures at The Nail Shop in Kingdom Center, on Olaya Street in downtown Riyadh. The entire 2nd floor is dedicated only for women! I just love these “Women Only” spots in the “Kingdom”! You really get to “let your hair down” and hang up your abaya so you can really relax. We had been to this nail shop before, enjoyed the services, so it has become one of our regular spots. As always, the service was great! My manicure and pedicure had a flawless professional look and the staff really takes their time with you.
Once our services were completed, we called the driver to meet us in front of the mall. As we walked through the mall, we came upon this store called, The Paper Room. The Paper Room is not your typical stationary store, by no means! They had a range of cards, paper and envelopes that were beyond the ordinary, but I was more interested in the gift wrapping services. I had a gift that I needed to have wrapped so I selected a gift bag and proceeded to the counter. Let me tell you, the store staff amazed me with the bow they created for my bag! He transformed the metallic ribbon into the most awesome custom bow I have ever laid eyes on! This simple gift bag, once transposed, looked better than the gift itself! I could not stop complimenting the attendant!
I also watched this “artist” wrap a dress set. He lined the box with a netted material, placed the dress into the box, lined the box with more netting to lie on top of the dress then concluded with yet a more magnificent bow than the one he created for me. The gift wrapping and artistry that accompanies this service turns any ordinary gift wrapping into a work of Art! The price range of the products and services is very affordable for such a unique luxury. Another nicety found in the “Kingdom”, Saudi Arabia.

GMarie,
ReplyDeleteI am so grateful to find your blog. I have a question, I am moving to Riyadh in 6 to 8 months. I am concerned about how to take care of my hair there. I have locs so is there a salon there that could help me? Or better yet, should I just learn how to do it on my own.
In regards,
Chanel
I am glad to run across your blog because I am moving to Riyadh in 6 to 8 months. My question is black hair care. Is there any black hair care salons that can cater to locs? Better yet should I just suck it up and learn how to do it on my own?
